National League is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 9 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most interesting game of round 9 in the National League was a home defeat of 7th ranked Portoviejo (3-4) by sixth ranked Juvenil (4-3) who outscored them by 43 points 112-69 in the game for the sixth place. Juvenil dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Portoviejo's 38. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Logan Hovey (200-94, college: SW Baptist) stepped up and scored 31 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Paul Marigney (191-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Juvenil's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was power forward Zach Reynolds (206-90, college: N.Arizona) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Juvenil maintains sixth place with 4-3 record. Portoviejo at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Juvenil are looking forward to face higher ranked Punto Rojo (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Portoviejo will play against the league's second-placed Piratas in Ibarra and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Very significant was Iccan's (#1) 89-79 road victory against second-best Punto Rojo. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Colombian-Venezuelan swingman Cesar Silva (190-81) nailed 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Jesus Centeno accounted for 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: SDJ Sports) came up with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Punto Rojo in the defeat. Iccan have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-1 record. Punto Rojo at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Iccan will play against Guerreros (#3) in Santo Domingo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Punto Rojo will play on the road against Juvenil in Vinces and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (0-7) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to fifth ranked Piratas (5-2) 88-67 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Jhon Romero who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Jean Pierre who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Piratas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Triple E-Uda still closes the standings with seven games lost. Piratas will meet at home Portoviejo (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Triple E-Uda will play against Barcelona and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 9 ABC lost to Barcelona on the opponent's court 72-79. Guerreros outscored Leones in a home game 82-46.

Triple E-Uda - Piratas 67-88

Bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (0-7) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to fifth ranked Piratas (5-2) 88-67 on Saturday evening. Piratas outrebounded Triple E-Uda 46-33 including 36 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. American power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St., agency: DTMones) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Piratas will meet at home Portoviejo (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Triple E-Uda will play against Barcelona and hopes to get finally their first victory.
