After 3 rounds played we can already see who rules in the National League and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
The most exciting game of round 3 in the National League took place in Ibarra. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Guerreros (7-5) to Piratas (9-3) 85-82 on Sunday evening. It was a great evening for Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Spanish Adriano Barrera (-92) helped adding 18 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Deilvez Yearby (200-87, college: PFW) with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Piratas are looking forward to face Leones (#8) in Riobamba in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Guerreros will play at home against Barcelona and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Iccan (11-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat ABC (2-10) in Santo Domingo 73-56. It was a quality performance for forward Mairon Cuero-Racines (190-89) who led the winners and scored 17 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Juan-Pablo Alvarez accounted for 14 points. Cuban forward Yasmany Fundora (201-92) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds for ABC in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iccan will play against Juvenil (#4) in Vinces in the next round. ABC will play on the road against Portoviejo (#7) in Portviejo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Triple E-Uda (1-11) was outscored at home by Portoviejo (5-7) with the biggest margin this round 90-72 on Sunday night. The best player for the winners was Zach Reynolds who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 23 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Milton Romo who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists. Triple E-Uda's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Portoviejo will meet at home ABC (#9) in the next round. Triple E-Uda will play against Punto Rojo and hope to win that game.
In the last game of round 3 Punto Rojo lost to Barcelona on the opponent's court 68-77.
ABC - Iccan 56-73
Iccan (11-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat ABC (2-10) in Santo Domingo 73-56. Iccan made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 ABC turnovers. It was a quality performance for forward Mairon Cuero-Racines (190-89) who led the winners and scored 17 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Very expected game in Guayaquil where Punto Rojo (5-7) was defeated by Barcelona (10-2) 77-68 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American John Shodipo (196-88, college: DuPage JC) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. The former international Raul Cardenas (190-82, college: Faulkner) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Shodipo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Barcelona's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Eduard Caicedo (196-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively.
