The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Iccan (11-2) in Vinces on Tuesday night. Visitors were rolled over by fourth ranked Juvenil (8-4) 87-65. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Iccan. Juvenil made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. American guard Paul Marigney (191-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) stepped up and scored 41 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import center Randy Phillips (203-95, college: Radford) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Cuban forward Darol Hernandez (206-89) responded with 10 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Juvenil have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 8-4 record. Defending champion Iccan still keeps top position with two games lost. Juvenil are looking forward to face ABC (#9) in Santo Domingo in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Iccan will play at home against the league's second-placed Piratas (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

John Shodipo (196-88, college: DuPage JC) came up with 25 points and 6 rebounds for Barcelona in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guerreros maintains fifth place with 8-5 record. Barcelona at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Piratas. Guerreros will play against bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (#10) in Gualaceo in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
