PAUL MARIGNEY

American Guard Paul Marigney (191-G-82) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Juvenil, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 36-year old player was the main contributor (41 points, nine rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Iccan (#1, 11-2) with 22-point margin 87-65. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Juvenil maintains the 4th position in Ecuadorian National League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Juvenil will need more victories to improve their 8-4 record. In the team's last game Marigney had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He turned to be Juvenil's top player in his first season with the team. Former Saint Mary's College of California star has very solid stats this year. Marigney is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.8ppg. Marigney is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 8.8rpg) and assists (8th best: 3.2apg).

The second best player in last round's games was 31-year old American Deilvez Yearby (200-G/F-87) of Guerreros. Yearby had a very good evening with a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Guerreros to another comfortable win outscoring slightly higher-ranked Barcelona (#3, 10-3) 90-67. Guerreros' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 8-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Yearby is a newcomer at Guerreros, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.6ppg (#2). He also registered 10.9 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was Venezuelan swingman Emilio Cappare (199-F/G-90) of Portoviejo (#7). Cappare scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Portoviejo, leading his team to a 79-66 easy win against slightly lower-ranked ABC (#9, 2-11). The chances of Portoviejo ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 7 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Cappare could help Portoviejo to bring them higher in the standings. Cappare has a very solid season. In 4 games in Ecuador he scored 16.5ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Marvin Cairo (201-G/F-91) of Piratas - 24 points and 8 rebounds
5. Charlie Shorter (185-G-90) of Guerreros - 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Willie Readus (201-F/C-92) of Piratas - 18 points and 12 rebounds
7. Jean Pierre (205-F/C-91) of Triple E-Uda - 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Yasmany Fundora (201-F-92) of ABC - 23 points and 10 rebounds
9. John Shodipo (196-SF-88) of Barcelona - 25 points and 6 rebounds
10. Zach Reynolds (206-F/C-90) of Portoviejo - 18 points and 9 rebounds
