PAUL MARIGNEY

American Guard Paul Marigney (191-G-82) had an amazing evening in the last round for Juvenil, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 36-year old player was the main contributor (36 points, six rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Barcelona (10-6) 81-68. Juvenil is placed at 3rd position in Ecuadorian National League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Juvenil will need more victories to improve their 10-6 record. In the team's last game Marigney had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Juvenil's top player in his first season with the team. Former Saint Mary's College of California star has very solid stats this year. Marigney is in league's top in points (2nd best: 25.0ppg), assists (9th best: 3.3apg) and averages impressive 50.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old former international center Eduard Caicedo (196-C-90) of Punto Rojo. Caicedo had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds. It was enough for Punto Rojo to edge slightly higher-ranked Guerreros (#4, 10-6) 76-75. Punto Rojo's 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 8-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Caicedo is a newcomer at Punto Rojo and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Zach Reynolds (206-F/C-90) of Portoviejo (#7). Reynolds scored 21 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Reynolds' great performance Portoviejo lost 76-108 to slightly lower-ranked Leones (#8, 6-10). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Portoviejo ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Reynolds could help Portoviejo to bring them higher in the standings. Reynolds has a great season in Ecuador. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.0rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Darol Hernandez (206-F-89) of Iccan - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists
5. Jamaal Samuel (206-F-93) of Leones - 30 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Eric Worthey (196-G-91) of Triple E-Uda - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Charlie Shorter (185-G-90) of Guerreros - 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Jordan Johnson (183-PG-92) of Portoviejo - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Rasham Suarez (190-G-92) of Punto Rojo - 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Aaron Harper (203-SF-81) of Leones - 23 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
