Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Seventh-ranked Portoviejo (7-10) made lots of trouble for first ranked Iccan (15-2) in Portviejo on Tuesday. The visitors from Guayaquil managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected much easier game. Iccan well out of reach of Portoviejo shooting 89.2 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Iccan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 100.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was forward Mairon Cuero-Racines (190-89) who scored 26 points (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!). Venezuelan guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) chipped in 13 points. American point guard Jordan Johnson (183-92, college: Tenn Tech) produced 32 points (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Iccan have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-2 record. Portoviejo lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Leones. Iccan are looking forward to face Punto Rojo (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Portoviejo will play against Juvenil in Vinces and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
Another exciting game was played in Riobamba between eighth ranked Leones and 5th ranked Barcelona where host Leones (7-10) won against Barcelona (10-7) 101-96. American Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) orchestrated the victory by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Alex Johnson contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Carlos Carcelen (202-81) answered with 29 points and 5 rebounds for Barcelona. Barcelona's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Leones have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Portoviejo. Barcelona lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Leones will play against higher ranked Guerreros (#4) in Santo Domingo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barcelona will play on the road against ABC in Santo Domingo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Guayaquil was also quite interesting. Second ranked Piratas (13-4) played at the court of 5th ranked Barcelona (10-7). Piratas did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 76-58 on Wednesday. Marvin Cairo stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Keith Bowman responded with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Barcelona's coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Piratas. They maintain second place with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Iccan. Barcelona lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Piratas will meet at home bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Barcelona will play against ABC (#9) in Santo Domingo and hope to secure a win.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Santo Domingo: Guerreros (#4) and ABC (#9). ABC was defeated at home 63-69 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Charlie Shorter nailed a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side. Guerreros (11-6) moved-up to third place, which they share with Juvenil. ABC lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Guerreros' next round opponent will be Leones (#7) in Riobamba. ABC will play at home against Barcelona and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 17 Juvenil defeated Triple E-Uda in Vinces 88-72. Punto Rojo was beaten by Leones at home 73-86.
