Piratas - Punto Rojo 94-83

Piratas held off Punto Rojo for the opening win in the series. American power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St., agency: DTMones) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Cuban swingman Marvin Cairo (201-91) accounted for 30 points. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican guard Rasham Suarez (190-92, college: S.Mississippi) came up with 27 points and 7 assists and American swingman Brent Jackson (193-94, college: Columbus St.) added 20 points respectively for Punto Rojo in the defeat.

Iccan - Portoviejo 63-73

Portoviejo upset Iccan on the road in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Portoviejo. Iccan managed to win third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Portoviejo made 9 blocks. American point guard Jordan Johnson (183-92, college: Tenn Tech) stepped up and scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Venezuelan swingman Emilio Cappare (199-90) chipped in 22 points. At the losing side Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90, agency: DTMones) responded with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Venezuelan guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Iccan players scored in double figures.

Juvenil toppled Leones to take the lead in the series. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Paul Marigney (191-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and forward Logan Hovey (200-94, college: SW Baptist) accounted for 27 points and 8 rebounds. Hovey is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds and center Garret Siler (213-86, college: Augusta) added 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for Leones in the defeat.
