Leones ink Imani Tate

IMANI TATE

Leones de Riobamba (Liga Femenina) agreed terms with 23-year old Virgin Islander international guard Imani Tate (175-95, college: Albany). She is a dual citizen owning also American passport. Tate moved there from Laboratorios Ynsadiet Lagenes in Spanish LF2 league where she started the season. In 29 games she had very impressive stats: 16.2ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.3apg and 2.0spg this season. Good year as she was named League Player of the Week. The last summer she played at Union Florida (LaLiga) in Argentinian league. In 16 games she was fourth best scorer with remarkable 17.8ppg and averaged 4.3rpg, 1.9apg and 1.9spg (in top 2). Tate helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. Quite impressive season as she was named to Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian La Liga Clausura 1st Team.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others her college team won AEC Tournament for four years in a row (between 2014 and 2017). Tate was also voted All-AEC Sixth Player of the Year back in 2015.
She represented U.S. Virgin Islands at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla (Colombia) last year. Her stats at that event were 3 games: Score-1 (19.3ppg), 5.0rpg, 1.0apg, Steals-1 (3.7spg), Blocks-1 (7.7bpg), FGP: 36.7%, 3PT: 28.0%, FT: 60.0%.
Tate has played also professionally in Spain for Alcobendas.
She attended University at Albany until 2017 and it is her second season as a professional player.
