The most exciting game of round 5 in the Liga Desarrollo took place in . This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of their close opponent Punto R. (3-2) to fourth ranked UDJ (1-1) 58-56 on Saturday evening. UDJ forced 23 Punto R. turnovers. The best player for the winners was Fernanda Garcia (-95) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Sheyla Garcia (172-99) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. The former international Marjorie Caicedo (180-90) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Punto R.'s coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Power forward Nahomi Guzman (178-1) orchestrated the victory by scoring 8 points and 17 rebounds. Ivanna Flores contributed with 11 points for the winners. Vikingos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international Maria Carpio (178-93) answered with 9 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for Henko. Vikingos moved-up to second place, which they share with Los Andes SM. Henko at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Santa ES. Vikingos will play against league's leader La Perla in Guayaquil in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Henko will have a break next round.

Paulina Vaicekauskas stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Daniela Camacho responded with 4 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated La Perla (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row.
