Santa ES - Henko 44-55 The most interesting game of round 7 in the Liga Desarrollo was a home defeat of bottom-ranked Santa ES (0-7) to seventh ranked Henko (1-6) 55-44 in the game for the seventh place. Henko held Santa ES to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Santa ES 55-40 including 41 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international Maria Carpio (178-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Center Maria Munoz (-91) helped adding 13 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Henko's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Adamarys Vivar (-3) responded with 9 points and 8 rebounds and forward Ashley Amaya (-97) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Henko maintains seventh place with 1-6 record. It was Santa ES's seventh loss in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Henko are looking forward to face higher ranked UDJ (#6) in Quininde in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santa ES will play on the road against the league's leader La Perla having rather not much hope for a victory. Second ranked host Los Andes SM (6-1) defeated 3rd placed Vikingos (4-3) 63-47. Los Andes SM held Vikingos to an opponent 21.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.3 percent accuracy of the winners. It was an exceptional evening for forward Carelis Arechua (-99) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ana Mora (169-99) accounted for 17 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Power forward Nahomi Guzman (178-1) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 22 rebounds and forward Sarahi Valencia (-3) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Vikingos in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Los Andes SM have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-1 record behind leader La Perla. Vikingos at the other side keep the third position with three games lost. Los Andes SM will play against Viejo W. (#5) in the next round. Vikingos will play against Punto R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals. They used home court advantage to defeat Viejo W. (2-5) 76-66. UDJ forced 24 Viejo W. turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Lucia Garrido (-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Heidy Guayaquil (157-99) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. UDJ's coach Raul Vilatuna allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Daniela Camacho (177-96) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds and forward Maria Sarmiento (173-4) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Viejo W.Four Viejo W. players scored in double figures. Despite that victory UDJ went down to sixth position due to points difference. Viejo W. at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. UDJ's next round opponent will be Henko (#7). Viejo W. will play against the league's second-placed Los Andes SM and hope to win that game. Noelia Moran (-2) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Liliana Angulo (183-90) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and the former international Marjorie Caicedo (180-90) added 13 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for La Perla. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Punto R. lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. La Perla will meet at home bottom-ranked Santa ES (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Punto R. will play against Vikingos (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
