Maria Carpio
Former international Maria Carpio (178-SF-93) put on an amazing game in the last round for Henko, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Desarrollo Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds, while her team beat Santa ES (#8, 0-8), the league's bottom-ranked team 55-44. Henko is placed at 6th position in Ecuadorian Liga Desarrollo. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 6 games and recorded just two victories. Carpio just recently signed at Henko, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Maria Carpio has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (9th best: 11.0ppg), rebounds (7th best: 10.6rpg) and assists (2nd best: 4.1apg).
The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old Lucia Garrido (C/F-92) of UDJ. Garrido had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds. Of course UDJ cruised to a 76-66 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Viejo W. (#5, 2-6). Despite this victory UDJ slide down in the standings to 7th position. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 1-1 record is not bad and everything may still change. Garrido is one of the most experienced players at UDJ and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.1ppg (#1). She also registered 11.3 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was Nahomi Guzman (178-C/F-01) of Vikingos (#4). Guzman scored 17 points and grabbed twenty two rebounds (!!!). Despite Guzman's great performance Vikingos lost 47-63 to #2 ranked Los Andes SM. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Vikingos needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 4 victories and 4 lost games. Guzman has a great season in Ecuador. After only 8 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.3rpg (2nd best). She also has 2.3spg and 1.1bpg.
Other top performing players last week:
4. Emily Gonzalez (F-06) of Viejo W. - 18 points and 7 rebounds
5. Daniela Mora (179-C-92) of Los Andes SM - 10 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists

10. Carelis Arechua (F-99) of Los Andes SM - 16 points and 11 rebounds
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
