Nahomi Guzman
Forward Alexandra Molina (F-07) had a very impressive game in the last round for Viejo W., receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Desarrollo Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 13-year old player was the main contributor (14 points, six rebounds and two assists) to her team's victory, helping them to crush, the league's bottom-ranked team Santa ES (#8, 0-10) with 16-point margin 78-62. Viejo W. maintains the 6th position in Ecuadorian Liga Desarrollo. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 7 games and recorded just three victories. Molina just recently signed at Viejo W., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Alexandra Molina averages just after three games 5.7ppg.
The second best player in last round's games was 19-year old Nahomi Guzman (178-C/F-01) of Vikingos. Guzman had a very good evening with a double-double of 14 points and 18 rebounds. Bad luck as Vikingos lost that game 50-57 to slightly higher-ranked UDJ (#4, 6-4). This loss caused Vikingos to drop to 5th position in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 5-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Guzman is one of the most experienced players at Vikingos and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 11.5ppg (#6). She also registered 13.6 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was center Daniela Mora (179-C-92) of league's second-best Los Andes SM. Mora scored 12 points and grabbed nineteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Mora's great performance Los Andes SM lost 46-47 to #1 ranked La Perla. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Los Andes SM had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 2nd lost game is hopefully really an accident. Mora's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Mora has a great season in Ecuador. After 10 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 11.1ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 11.6rpg (3rd best).
Other top performing players last week:
4. Jazmin Meza (160-G-99) of Punto R. - 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Liliana Angulo (183-C/F-90) of Punto R. - 18 points and 2 rebounds
6. Joselyn Lopez (PF-01) of Los Andes SM - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Adamarys Vivar (C-03) of Santa ES - 19 points and 7 rebounds
8. Maria Sarmiento (173-F-04) of Viejo W. - 10 points and 8 rebounds
9. Angie Gonzalez (C-01) of UDJ - 10 points and 14 rebounds
10. Emily Gonzalez (F-06) of Viejo W. - 10 points and 10 rebounds
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
