Abraham Barahona
Power forward Abraham Barahona (193-F/C-03) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Importadora, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Desarrollo Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 17-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Punto Rojo (#3, 2-1) 59-53. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Importadora to consolidate first place in the Ecuadorian Liga Desarrollo. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Importadora already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Barahona had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Importadora's top player in his first season with the team. Abraham Barahona has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 18.7ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 13.0rpg) and averages impressive 2.0bpg,2.7spg and 56.4% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 20-year old former international swingman Luis Riascos (194-F/G) of league's second-best Piratas. Riascos had a very good evening with a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds. Of course Piratas cruised to a 87-79 relatively comfortable win over Caballeros (1-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Riascos is one of the most experienced players at Piratas and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.0ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 7.0rpg and 3.7apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was former international Eduard Caicedo (196-C/F-90) of Punto Rojo (#3). Caicedo scored 21 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Caicedo's great performance Punto Rojo lost 53-59 to #1 ranked Importadora. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Punto Rojo needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Caicedo has a great season in Ecuador. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.0ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 12.0rpg (4th best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
