31-year old Darwin Sanz (90) had a great game in the last round for league's best team Santa Maria and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4.
He had the game-high 27 points adding seven rebounds for Santa Maria in his team's victory, helping them to beat Manabi (#2, 3-2) 88-81. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Santa Maria to consolidate first place in the Ecuadorian league. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Santa Maria already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Sanz had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Santa Maria's top player in his first season with the team. Sanz has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 12.8ppg) and averages solid 58.3% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Michael Torres (C-02) of Guerreros. He is a center in his first season at Guerreros. In the last game Torres recorded impressive double-double of 17 points and 25 rebounds. Bad luck as Guerreros lost that game 57-77 to Triple E-Uda (1-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Guerreros still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Guerreros managed to get this year. Torres is a newcomer at Guerreros and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 12.6ppg (#8). He also registered 13.2 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to another Santa Maria's star - guard Martin Martinez (182-PG-95). Martinez showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, twelve rebounds (!!!) and ten assists (!!!) in the last round. He was another key player of Santa Maria, helping his team with a 88-81 win against #2 ranked Manabi. Santa Maria started extremely well this year. They recorded 5 victories without losing a single game. Martinez turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Martinez has a great season in Ecuador. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 13.8ppg (5th best), rebounds with 7.4rpg (6th best) and assists with 8.6apg (best passer).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
