Guerreros - Manabi 87-93 Very significant was Manabi's (#2, 3-2) victory against 3rd placed Guerreros (1-4) 93-87. Manabi shot 33 for 58 from the free-throw line, while Guerreros only scored nine points from the stripe. Manabi forced 21 Guerreros turnovers. Strangely Guerreros outrebounded Manabi 58-39 including 18 on the offensive glass. 35 personal fouls committed by Guerreros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Mairon Cuero (190-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-94, college: Lander) chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds. Gabriel is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Manabi players scored in double figures. Neudy Reyes (-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Arath Polanco (-3) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Manabi maintains second place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Santa Maria. Guerreros at the other side keep the third position with four games lost. They share it with Triple E-Uda. Manabi are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (#4) in Gualaceo in the next round. Guerreros will play against the league's leader Santa Maria and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Abrahan Barahona (-3) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and the former international power forward Nixon Mina (205-90) accounted for 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Cristian Ulloa (-98) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Juan Bolanos (-97) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for Triple E-Uda in the defeat. Triple E-Uda's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Santa Maria (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Triple E-Uda at the other side dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. They share it with Guerreros.
