Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Triple E-Uda - Guerreros 71-78 The most interesting game of round 8 was a home defeat of 4th ranked Triple E-Uda (1-7) to third ranked Guerreros (2-6) 78-71 in the game for the third place. Guerreros outrebounded Triple E-Uda 43-30 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Michael Torres (-2) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jose Obando (-99) who added 15 points and 5 assists during the contest. Point guard Josue Andrade (-97) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Juan Bolanos (-97) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Four Triple E-Uda players scored in double figures. Triple E-Uda's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Guerreros maintains third position with 2-6 record having six points less than leader Santa Maria. Triple E-Uda lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. Guerreros are looking forward to face league's second-placed Manabi in Portviejo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Triple E-Uda will play against the league's leader Santa Maria and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Manabi. The winners were led by the former international point guard Martin Martinez (182-95) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and Venezuelan Darwin Sanz (-90) supported him with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds by American guard Vince Toftness (188-97, college: Ecclesia) did not help to save the game for Manabi. Forward Mairon Cuero (190-89) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Manabi's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Santa Maria (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Manabi at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Santa Maria will play against bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (#4) in Gualaceo in the next round. Manabi will play at home against Guerreros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
