Center Michael Torres (C-02) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for GUERREROS DEL BALONCESTO, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 19-year old player had a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Triple E-Uda (#4, 1-8) 78-71. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Guerreros maintains the 3rd position in Ecuadorian National League. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 7 games and recorded just two victories. In the team's last game Torres had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be Guerreros' top player in his first season with the team. Michael Torres has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (9th best: 13.4ppg) and averages impressive 52.1% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old former international point guard Martin Martinez (182-PG-95) of league's leader Santa Maria. Martinez had a very good evening with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Santa Maria to edge slightly lower-ranked Manabi (#2, 6-3) 70-64. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Santa Maria consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. He plays for the best team in the league and Santa Maria managed to win all 9 games keeping a perfect record. Martinez is a newcomer at Santa Maria, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.3ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 8.4rpg and 7.4apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Vince Toftness (188-G-97) of league's second-best Manabi. Toftness scored 19 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Toftness' great performance Manabi lost 64-70 to #1 ranked Santa Maria. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Manabi needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 6 victories and 3 lost games. Toftness has a great season in Ecuador. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.1ppg (3rd best) and assists with 2.8apg (5th best). He also has 3.1spg and FGP: 55.6%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
