Liga Femenina Round 3: Bocca hand first defeat to UDJ

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of UDJ (0-1) in Guayaquil on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Bocca (3-0) 78-36. Bocca held UDJ to an opponent 20.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Bocca forced 24 UDJ turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by UDJ's players. The best player for the winners was the former international Maria Carpio (178-93) who scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Erika Calderon (178-91) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Lucia Garrido (-92) who recorded 9 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bocca are looking forward to face Viejo W. Karla Naranjo contributed with 8 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Emily Gonzalez (-6) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for Viejo W.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
