Emilio Cappare
Venezuelan Swingman Emilio Cappare (199-F/G-1990) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Santa Maria, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 32-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, eight rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Nesfebanor (#8, 0-4), the league's bottom-ranked team 88-82. Santa Maria is placed at 3rd position in Ecuadorian National League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Santa Maria won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Cappare had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He has many years of experience at Santa Maria, through which he has constantly improved. Emilio Cappare has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.5ppg. Cappare is in league's top in assists (7th best: 3.0apg) and averages impressive 53.8% FGP and 46.2% from behind 3-point line.
The second best player in last round's games was young Dani Duarte (1984) of Nesfebanor. Duarte had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Nesfebanor lost that game 82-88 to Santa Maria (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Duarte is one of the most experienced players at Nesfebanor and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#7). He also registered 10.3 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was Juan Rojas (1989) of league's top team Fuerza M.. Rojas scored 21 points and grabbed twenty rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Fuerza M., leading his team to a 74-46 easy win against Guerreros (#7, 0-2). Fuerza M. has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Rojas also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Rojas has a great season in Ecuador. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.0rpg (2nd best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
