National League Round 9: Top-ranked Punto Rojo win another game

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

National League top team - Punto Rojo (8-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Fuerza M. (2-7) 77-49. Punto Rojo forced 19 Fuerza M. turnovers and outrebounded them 50-32 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Punto Rojo made 9 blocks. It was a good game for Argentinian Pablo Alderete (198-1993) who led his team to a victory with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Johu Castillo (199-1999) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Juan Rojas (-1989) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for Fuerza M.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Punto Rojo have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-2 record. Fuerza M. lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with seven games lost.

This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to leader Caballeros (0-0) 73-66. American power forward Mason Harrell (203-1997, college: WSSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Carlos Delgado chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Yassel Farres with 16 points. Fuerza M.'s coach Frank Rodriguez rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Caballeros maintains th place with 0-0 record. Fuerza M. lost their seventh game in a row. Fuerza M. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with seven games lost.

James Edmond Jr nailed a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Yolvis Granado came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for Nesfebanor in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Club Valle. They moved-up to third place. Nesfebanor lost their fourth game in a row. Nesfebanor at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with eight games lost.

In the last two games of round 9 Santa Maria beat Nesfebanor on the road 81-68. Guerreros lost to Club Valle on its own court 73-83.

Yolvis Granado came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and forward Geovanny Filian (-2004) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for Nesfebanor in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Club Valle. They moved-up to third place. Nesfebanor lost their fourth game in a row. Nesfebanor at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with eight games lost.

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Santa Maria (6-1) beat on the road bottom-ranked Nesfebanor (1-8) 81-68 on Friday. Santa Maria made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Venezuelan swingman Emilio Cappare (199-1990) nailed 24 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side and Venezuelan point guard Alejandro Noguera (-1995) accounted for 24 points and 6 rebounds.
