Ecuadorian National League round 12 best performance: Jonathan Guzman (by Hoops Agents)- August 4, 2022
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed Triple E-Uda (#5, 4-5) with 32-point margin 88-56. Santa Maria is placed at 2nd position in Ecuadorian National League. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Santa Maria will need more victories to improve their 7-2 record. In the team's last game Guzman had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be Santa Maria's top player in his first season with the team. Former Antelope Valley University star has very solid stats this year. Guzman is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 11.1rpg), assists (5th best: 3.9apg) and averages impressive 58.9% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was young Rodrigo Gonzalez (1998) of Triple E-Uda. Gonzalez had a very good evening with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Triple E-Uda lost that game 56-88 to the higher-ranked Santa Maria (#2, 7-2). Triple E-Uda managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-5 record. Gonzalez is well-known at Triple E-Uda and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. Third on the list of top players last round was another Santa Maria's star - Venezuelan swingman Emilio Cappare (199-F/G-1990). Cappare showcased his all-around game by recording 14 points, fourteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was another key player of Santa Maria, helping his team with a 88-56 easy win against the lower-ranked Triple E-Uda (#5, 4-5). Santa Maria needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 2 lost games. Cappare has a great season in Ecuador. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.2ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 9.0rpg (9th best). He also has 1.2bpg and and 3PT: 40.8%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Manuel Hurtado (198-PF-1990) of Santa Maria - 10 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Ricardo Icaza (1992) of Santa Maria - 21 points and 3 assists 6. Jorge Diaz (1991) of Santa Maria - 6 points and 2 rebounds 7. Alex Noblecilla (2003) of Santa Maria - 3 points and 3 assists 8. Cristian Ulloa (1998) of Triple E-Uda - 2 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Milton Romo (PG-1990) of Triple E-Uda - 7 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Patricio Honores (1984) of Santa Maria - 3 points and 6 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
