Punto Rojo dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Maria's 28. They outrebounded Santa Maria 48-22 including a 34-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard LaQuincy Rideau (185-1996, college: S.Florida) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Argentinian Pablo Alderete (198-1993) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Five Punto Rojo players scored in double figures. American forward Jonathan Guzman (201-1998, college: Antelope Valley) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Venezuelan swingman Emilio Cappare (199-1990) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Santa Maria.

The former international point guard Martin Martinez (182-1995) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American Kelly Hinds (-1995) chipped in 22 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Five Caballeros players scored in double figures. American James Edmond Jr (205-1991, college: Lincoln, MO) responded with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import forward Luther Page (201-1993, college: Alabama St.) scored 32 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.
