Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ambato S. made 8 blocks. Guard Bady Alvarez (188-2004) fired 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Darwim Saenz chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Nixon Mina (205-1990) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). The former international forward Alexander Guerra (196-1996) contributed with 5 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Santa Maria players scored in double figures. Forward Jeferson Espinoza (-2004) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Yussephe Castaneda (185-2000) added 7 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks in the effort for Iccan.
