Liga Basquet Pro newcomer Liga Deportiva Universitaria Quito strengthened their roster with addition of 30-year old Argentinian shooting guard Jorge Banegas (190cm-1993, agency: BIG). Banegas moved there from Independiente de Oliva in Argentinian league. In 38 games he recorded 13.3ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.3apg last season. He helped them to make it to the cup final. The last season he played at Lanus (La Liga Argentina) in Argentina where in 28 games he averaged impressive 17.2ppg, 3.7rpg, 3.4apg and 1.5spg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian La Liga Argentina Conferencia Sur Second Team.
Banegas has played also professionally for other Argentinian teams like Olimpico, Tiro Federal, Regatas de Concepcion del Uruguay, Argentino Firmat and Club Atletico Villa San Martin. He won Argentinian Torneo Federal (Mesopotamia) championship title in 2016 and 2018.
