Heidy Guayaquil claims Ecuadorian Liga Femenina weekly honour

International Guard Heidy Guayaquil (157-G-1999) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Club Santa Maria Machala and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 25-year old guard had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, while her team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team ATUC (#4, 0-2) with 19-point margin 62-43. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Santa Maria to jump to the first place in the Ecuadorian Liga Femenina. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Santa Maria won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It was one of impressive evenings for Guayaquil as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Guayaquil has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (7th best: 11.0ppg) and rebounds (6th best: 10.0rpg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Marcia Ullauri (2005) of ATUC Basketball Club. Ullauri impressed basketball fans with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Bad luck as ATUC lost that game 43-62 to Santa Maria (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Ullauri is a newcomer at ATUC and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.0ppg (#4). She also registered 11.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Santa Maria's star - Kimberly Vera (1994). Vera scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She was another key player of Club Santa Maria Machala, helping her team with a 62-43 easy win against #4 ranked ATUC in a game of the week. Santa Maria has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Vera also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Vera has a great season in Ecuador. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.0rpg (5th best).
