Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Cojute - Santa Tecla 52-66 Leader Santa Tecla recorded the tenth victory on Thursday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Cojute (3-8) 66-52 in Cojutepeque. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cojute. Santa Tecla forced 19 Cojute turnovers and outrebounded them 55-37 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venezuelan-Colombian power forward Michael Hinestroza (208-90, college: UALR) stepped up and scored 7 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and center Carlos Arias (200-89) chipped in 6 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. The best for the losing side was American forward Antonio McElrath (201-88, college: Coastal Alabama CC) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Christopher Miller (192-93, college: Salem Intern.) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Santa Tecla. They maintain first place with 10-2 record. Loser Cojute keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Isidro Metapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Isidro Metapan made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was Nicaraguan center Bartel Lopez (213-89) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 22 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks. American Chris Blake (195-88, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. San Salvador made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Halcones turnovers and outrebounded them 57-40 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Salvador looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward James Milton (204-92, college: Stevenson) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 23 rebounds for the winners and forward Quincy Scates (198-89, college: Tenn Wesleyan) chipped in 40 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Kenny Wilson (-93) with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Darian Barnes (206-93, college: Neumann) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for San Salvador. They maintain fifth place with 6-5 record. Halcones lost their seventh game in a row. Defending champion stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. San Salvador will meet Aguila (#7) in the next round. Halcones will play against 11 Lobos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
