The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Quezaltepeque as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Quezaltepeque defeated their close opponent Aguila at home 100-86. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Quezaltepeque outrebounded Aguila 48-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Quezaltepeque made 8 blocks. An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in San Salvador. Third ranked Santa Tecla faced 4th placed San Salvador. Guests from Santa Tecla (13-4) defeated host San Salvador (10-4) 91-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of San Salvador. Worth to mention a great performance of American Cameron Lard (206-1997, college: Iowa St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. Christopher Blake contributed with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Dominican Bernardo Polanco (189-1994) answered with 32 points for San Salvador. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Santa Tecla. They maintain third place with 13-4 record having just three points less than leader Quezaltepeque. San Salvador at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Santa Tecla will play against league's second-placed Aguila in San Miguel in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. San Salvador will play on the road against Santa Ana and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Nejapa was also quite interesting. Second ranked Quezaltepeque (15-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Nejapa (6-11). Quezaltepeque managed to secure a 5-point victory 84-79 on Friday. At the losing side Kylon Higgins responded with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Quezaltepeque. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Nejapa keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Quezaltepeque will meet Brujos (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Metapan beat Brujos in a road game 99-87.

Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Metapan's 34. They outrebounded Metapan 48-36 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Metapan's players.
