Fantasmas - Metapan 92-78 The game in San Vicente was also worth to mention about. 5th ranked Metapan (4-5) played at the court of seventh ranked Fantasmas (4-5). Fantasmas defeated Metapan 92-78. Fantasmas shot 33 for 51 from the free-throw line, while Metapan only scored sixteen points from the stripe. Metapan was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Caleb Bowser (193, college: Georgian Court) notched a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) supported him with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Four Fantasmas players scored in double figures. Even 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by Lee Vasquez (176-1991) did not help to save the game for Metapan. Nicaraguan guard Deikel Sanchez (-1996) added 23 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Metapan's coach Reynaldo Corrales rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fantasmas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Metapan. Metapan lost fifth consecutive game. Fantasmas will play against league's second-placed Santa Tecla at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Metapan will play against Santa Ana and it may be a tough game between close rivals. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Santa Ana dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 44. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 48-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Jose Ortiz (190-1990, college: DelVal) who had a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. The other American import guard Marcus Feagin (193-1991) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Santa Ana players scored in double figures. Ryann Mercado produced 46 points (!!!) and 4 assists and American Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) added 21 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the guests. Santa Ana have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Chalchuapa stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Santa Ana will meet Metapan (#6) on the road in the next round. Chalchuapa will play against Cojute (#3) and hope to win that game. Santa Tecla outrebounded Santiagueno 57-41 including a 40-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 24 rebounds and 6 assists. Ernesto Rodriguez (170-2001) chipped in 24 points and 7 assists. Five Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 22 rebounds and Fernando Salcedo (-2003) added 24 points, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Santa Tecla used an opportunity after San Salvador lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Santiagueno keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. Visitors were rolled over by third ranked Cojute (7-4) 97-61. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of San Salvador. Cojute forced 30 San Salvador turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Chase Berry (198-1998, college: Utah Tech) scored 32 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997, agency: The French Family Consulting) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five Cojute players scored in double figures. Panamanian Alejandro Grant (199-1993) responded with 13 points and American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cojute have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 7-4 record having just one point less than leader San Salvador. San Salvador at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. They share the position with Santa Tecla. Cojute are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. San Salvador will have a break next round.
