The most exciting game of round 11 in the Liga MB took place in San Salvador. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Brujos (6-5) to second ranked San Salvador (8-3) 87-85 on Monday evening. San Salvador had a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Naturalized Canadian forward Jonathan Rivera (206-2000, college: York) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Naturalized American point guard Marquise Mosley (170-1997, college: Biola, CA, agency: Crossover Management) contributed with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Samuel Cota (193) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for Brujos. San Salvador maintains second place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Metapan, which they share with A.Lobos. Brujos lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with five games lost. San Salvador is looking forward to face league's leader Metapan at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Brujos will play against Santa Tecla (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Eighth-ranked Santa Ana (1-9) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Brujos (6-5) in Izalco. Brujos managed to secure only two-point victory 70-68. However their fans expected easier game. It was a great evening for Bahamas forward KJ Reckley (201, college: Niagara, agency: Fully Feared Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. Brent Kelly helped adding 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American power forward Dhol Majak (208-2000, college: Park-Gilbert, agency: Interperformances) responded with 24 points, 21 rebounds and 6 blocks. Brujos maintains sixth place with 6-5 record. Santa Ana at the other side keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Ahuachapan and Santiagueno. Brujos will play against higher ranked Santa Tecla (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santa Ana will play against A.Lobos to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in San Salvador between Salvadorenos and Cojute. Fourth ranked Salvadorenos (7-3) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Cojute (4-7). Salvadorenos managed to escape with a 3-point win 71-68 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cojute. It was an exceptional evening for Ibrahima Traore who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds. Salvadorenos' coach used entire bench in such tough game. Hector Maldonado came up with 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for Cojute in the defeat. Salvadorenos maintains fourth place with 7-3 record. Loser Cojute keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Salvadorenos will meet at home bottom-ranked Santiagueno (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cojute will have a break next round.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 11: A.Lobos were beaten by Metapan on the road 89-71. Cojute won against Santiagueno on its own court 68-53. San Salvador was outscored by A.Lobos in a road game 74-51. Ahuachapan recorded a loss to Metapan at home 89-99.




Metapan - A.Lobos 89-71

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Metapan (10-1) beat at home 3rd placed A.Lobos (8-3) 89-71 on Monday. It was an exceptional evening for Guatemalan point guard Lee Vasquez (173) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) accounted for 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Metapan players scored in double figures. Naturalized American center Marc Montavious (202-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) added 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for A.Lobos in the defeat. Metapan have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. Loser A.Lobos dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with San Salvador. Metapan will meet league's second-placed San Salvador on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. A.Lobos will play against Santa Ana and hope to secure a win.

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Santiagueno (1-9) lost to seventh ranked Cojute (4-7) in Cojutepeque 53-68 on Wednesday. Cojute outrebounded Santiagueno 49-35 including 35 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Puerto Rican guard Hector Maldonado (185-1991) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds. American center Troidell Carter (206-1991, college: Slippery Rock) accounted for 6 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Cojute's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Darius Daniels (183-1997) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the other American import guard EJ Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Santiagueno in the defeat. Cojute maintains seventh place with 4-7 record. Santiagueno lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. They share it with Santa Ana and Ahuachapan. Cojute will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santiagueno will play against Salvadorenos (#4) in San Salvador and hope to win that game.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked A.Lobos (8-3) rolled over at home second-ranked San Salvador (8-3) 74-51 on Wednesday.
