Salvadorean Liga MB round 9 best performance: Ryan Bennett - Sep 12, 2018

Ryan Bennett
Canadian Guard Ryan Bennett (193-G) had a great game in the last round for 11 Lobos, receiving a Interperformances Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 9.
The player had a double-double of 42 points and 18 rebounds, while his team beat Isidro Metapan (#4, 4-5) 91-83. Thanks to this victory 11 Lobos moved-up to the 5th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. 11 Lobos is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-6 record. In the team's last game Bennett had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be 11 Lobos' top player in his first season with the team. Ryan Bennett averages just after two games 28.5ppg and 12.0rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old American Patrick Wrencher (198-F-95) of Cojute. Wrencher had a very good evening with a double-double of 31 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Cojute was edged by slightly higher-ranked Santa Ana (#6, 3-6) 103-101. Cojute are still at the very bottom. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Cojute managed to get this year. Wrencher is a newcomer at Cojute, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.9ppg (#7). He also registered 17.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Tahj Wells (208-C-89) of Brujos Izalco (#7). Wells scored 21 points and grabbed twenty four rebounds (!!!). Despite Wells' great performance Brujos Izalco lost 67-76 to the higher-ranked San Salvador (#1, 8-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Brujos Izalco can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Wells he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Wells has individually a great season in El Salvador. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.3rpg (3rd best). He also has 2.1bpg and FGP: 54.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lee Vazquez (173-PG-91) of Santa Ana - 39 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Christopher Blake (196-G-88) of San Salvador - 36 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Joan Luis Haiti (201-C-82) of Santa Tecla - 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Orestes Torres (204-PF-87) of Brujos Izalco - 22 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Isaiah Thomas (188-PG-93) of Isidro Metapan - 16 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Eddie Ishman (196-F) of Santa Tecla - 23 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Lisvan Valdez (200-PF-88) of Santa Tecla - 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Here is the last round review presented by ESL. The game had a very big importance for second-ranked San Marcos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. San Marcos smashed 9th ranked ABA at home 93-68. San Marcos have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Forward Jonathan Zometa (185-F-87) had an amazing evening in the last round for ABA, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 16. The 31-year old player was the main contributor (37 points, nine rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Arcense (#3, 11-5) 92-88.
