Lee Vazquez
LEE VAZQUEZ

Puerto Rican Lee Vazquez (173-PG-91) had a very impressive game in the last round for Santa Ana and that's him to receive a Interperformances Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 27-year old playmaker had the game-high 39 points adding nine rebounds and five assists for Santa Ana in his team's victory, helping them to beat 11 Lobos (#4, 4-6) 87-79. Thanks to this victory Santa Ana moved-up to the 7th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Santa Ana have already lost 7 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Vazquez had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Santa Ana's top player in his first season with the team. Westfield State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Vazquez is league's best scorer averaging so far 34.1ppg. Vazquez is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 5.6apg) and averages solid 3.1spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Santa Ana's star - 38-year old Honduran power forward Felipe Ruiz (198-F/C-80). Ruiz impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 15 points and 18 rebounds. Of course Santa Ana cruised to a 87-79 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked 11 Lobos (#4, 4-6). Despite this victory Santa Ana slide down in the standings to 7th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-7 record. Ruiz is one of the most experienced players at Santa Ana and similarly like Lee Vazquez has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 5.4ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 10.7rpg and 3.7apg.

The third best performed player last round was Canadian Xzennis Brereton (190-G-93) of COJUTE (#8). Brereton scored 28 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Brereton's great performance Cojute lost 83-87 to the higher-ranked Quezaltepeque (#2, 8-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Cojute can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-7 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Brereton he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Brereton has individually a great season in El Salvador. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.5ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 11.5rpg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Eddie Ishman (196-F) of Santa Tecla - 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Jeffery Moss (193-PF-93) of Quezaltepeque - 34 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Lisvan Valdez (200-PF-88) of Santa Tecla - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Douglas Bairez (180-SF-88) of 11 Lobos - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Sameen Swint (193-G) of 11 Lobos - 25 points and 9 rebounds
9. Patrick Wrencher (198-F-95) of Cojute - 23 points and 17 rebounds
10. Marc Montavious (206-C-90) of Quezaltepeque - 10 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
