Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked San Marcos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. San Marcos defeated 4th placed ExSAL ST at home 80-70. San Marcos forced 20 ExSAL ST turnovers. Ronald Flores orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Willian Merino (-0) contributed with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. San Marcos' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Wilber Melendez (180-94) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds for ExSAL ST. San Marcos have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. ExSAL ST at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. ExSAL ST will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. San Marcos will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Pinitos BC in Ahuachapan.
Bottom-ranked Juayua is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Halcones (5-1) 82-62. Swingman Luis Valle (190-97) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and Fernando Baides chipped in 10 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks. Jorge Ochoa (-78) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Halcones have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Arcense. Juayua at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Halcones will play against ABA (#6) in Apopa in the next round. Juayua will play on the road against Pinitos BC (#9) in Ahuachapan and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The game in Chalchuapa was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Brujos Izalco (4-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Chalchuapa (2-3). Brujos Izalco defeated Chalchuapa 66-51. The best player for the winners was Marique Castaneda who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Brujos Izalco have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Chalchuapa at the other side keeps the seventh position with three games lost. Brujos Izalco's next round opponent will be ABA (#6) in Apopa. Chalchuapa will play on the road against the league's second-placed Arcense in San Salvador and hope to win that game.
The game in Ahuachapan supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Arcense (5-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Ahuachapan (1-4). Arcense smashed Ahuachapan 88-61 on Wednesday. Santos Romero orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Arcense moved-up to second place, which they share with Halcones. Ahuachapan lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. Arcense will face Chalchuapa (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.

In the last game of round 5 Pinitos BC was smashed by Halcones on the road 159-53.



Halcones - Pinitos BC 159-53

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Halcones (5-1) crushed 9th ranked Pinitos BC (1-5) in Sonzacate 159-53 on Thursday. Halcones well out of reach of Pinitos BC shooting 77.4 percent from the field. They also forced 28 Pinitos BC turnovers and outrebounded them 42-20 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Halcones shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Fernando Baides (-97) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points and 9 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Swingman Luis Valle (190-97) contributed with 22 points and 4 steals (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Halcones players scored in double figures. Halcones' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Carlos Guzman (180-75) answered with 13 points and guard Rene Aguilar (170-87) added 12 points in the effort for Pinitos BC. Halcones have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Arcense. Loser Pinitos BC keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Halcones will face ABA (#6) in Apopa in the next round. Pinitos BC will play at home against Juayua and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Brujos Izalco dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 30. Brujos Izalco forced 20 Chalchuapa turnovers. The best player for the winners was Marique Castaneda who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Jorge Landaverde (181-85) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Erick Rojas produced 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Francis Carcamo (167-98) added 14 points and 5 steals respectively for the hosts.
