Quezaltepeque - Santa Ana 105-74

Quezaltepeque cruised past Santa Ana to sweep the quarterfinal series. Quezaltepeque dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 20. They outrebounded Santa Ana 60-27 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quezaltepeque players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Santa Ana's players. It was a good game for Puerto Rican swingman Xavier Zambrana (193-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 20 rebounds and 9 assists. American center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Quezaltepeque players scored in double figures. Quezaltepeque's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican point guard Lee Vazquez (173-91, college: Westfield St.) answered with 42 points (!!!) and 4 assists and Erick Ortiz added 21 points in the effort for Santa Ana.

San Salvador outgunned 11 Lobos to take 2-1 advantage. San Salvador dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to 11 Lobos' 52 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded 11 Lobos 64-30 including a 25-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. San Salvador looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by 11 Lobos' players. The best player for the winners was American center Marcus Bell (206-90, college: CS Stanislaus) who had a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 26 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Christopher Blake (196-88, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 12 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Guyanese power forward Anthony Moe (206-90, college: Millersville) who recorded 39 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and Canadian guard Ryan Bennett (193, college: Brock) added 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Brujos Izalco - Isidro Metapan 87-108

Isidro Metapan beat Brujos Izalco to narrow the deficit in the series. Isidro Metapan players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 14 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Spanish-American forward Duane James (196-83, college: Binghamton) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. V Martinez accounted for 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. James is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Isidro Metapan players scored in double figures. V Caratini came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and Cuban Orestes Torres (204-87) added 11 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Brujos Izalco in the defeat. Brujos Izalco's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win.

Santa Tecla held off Cojute to seal the semifinal appearance. Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Cojute's 36. Santa Tecla forced 24 Cojute turnovers and outrebounded them 55-30 including a 31-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Cojute helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American forward Eddie Ishman (196, college: Miles) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Center Carlos Arias (200-89) helped adding 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Jose Ortiz (194, college: Delaware Valley) with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and B Ogalde scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Santa Tecla and four Cojute players scored in double figures.

Nift Al-Janoub (IBL) inked American forward Nigel Grant (201-111kg, college: UNC Pembroke). He joins another USA player Darious Clark which is already in the roster. Grant played in the summer at San Salvador BC in Salvadorean Liga MB. He helped them to make it to the semifinals.
