Salvadorean Liga Mayor round 6 best performance: Rachel Contreras (by Hoops Agents)

Cuban Center Rachel Contreras (184-C-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for Batanecas BC, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Mayor Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 25-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 20 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Ahuachapan (#9, 0-6) with 35-point margin 103-68. Batanecas maintains the 4th position in Salvadorean Liga Mayor. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Batanecas will need more victories to improve their 4-2 record. In the team's last game Contreras had a remarkable 52.0% from 2-point range. She has many years of experience at Batanecas, through which she has constantly improved. Rachel Contreras has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (4th best: 24.0ppg).

The second best player in last round's games was young Cuban Dairis Tornell (176-PG-1992) of Ahuachapan BC. Tornell had a very good evening with 34 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Ahuachapan lost that game 66-93 to the higher-ranked Salvadorenas 2 (#5, 3-3). Ahuachapan are still at the very bottom. 6 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Tornell is one of the most experienced players at Ahuachapan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 29.2ppg (#3). She also registered 6.7 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Batanecas' star - Cuban guard Maria Montero (176-G-1998). Montero showcased her all-around game by recording 23 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 6 assists in the last round. She was another key player of Batanecas BC, helping her team with a 103-68 easy win against Ahuachapan (#9, 0-6). Batanecas needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Montero has a great season in El Salvador. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.8ppg (7th best), rebounds with 10.0rpg (9th best) and assists with 5.2apg (5th best).
