Yoel Cubillas' triple-double lands him Liga MB Player of the Week award

Cuban Forward Yoel Cubillas (204-F-1994) had an amazing evening in the last round for AD Isidro Metapan, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 11.
The 30-year old player recorded a triple-double of 32 points adding also 16 rebounds and 10 assists, while his team beat Santa Ana (#7, 3-7) 87-73. Thanks to this victory Metapan moved-up to the 3rd position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They are still close to the very top. Metapan would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 8-2 record. In the team's last game Cubillas had a remarkable 78.9% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Metapan and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Yoel Cubillas has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 26.6ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 16.8rpg) and averages impressive 3.3bpg and 71.4% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Freddy Asprilla (206-C-1988) of Ahuachapan BC. Asprilla had a very good evening with a double-double of 33 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Ahuachapan lost that game 91-112 to the higher-ranked Cojute (#4, 8-3). Ahuachapan are still at the very bottom. 11 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Asprilla is a newcomer at Ahuachapan, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Troidell Carter (206-C-1991) of Club de Baloncesto Cojute (#4). Carter scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He was a key player of Cojute, leading his team to a 112-91 easy win against Ahuachapan (#10, 0-11). Cojute needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 3 lost games. Carter has a great season in El Salvador. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.8rpg (9th best). He also has 2.2bpg and a FGP of 59.8%.
