Timothy Simmons' triple-double lands him Liga MB Player of the Week award

Experienced American Timothy Simmons (195-PF-1992) had a very impressive game in the last round for MC El Brasil Santa Ana and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 32-year old power forward recorded a triple-double of 31 points adding also 16 rebounds and 23 assists, while his team outclassed Santa Tecla (#9, 2-13) with 38-point margin 118-80. Santa Ana maintains the 8th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Santa Ana have already lost 10 games and recorded just four victories. In the team's last game Simmons had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Santa Ana's top player in his first season with the team. Dallas Baptist University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Simmons is in league's top in points (7th best: 22.3ppg), rebounds (9th best: 11.2rpg), assists (2nd best: 7.2apg) and averages solid 1.1bpg,2.3spg,58.8% FGP and 42.7% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Colombian power forward Michael Parra (201-PF-1995) of Salvadorenos BC. Parra impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 23 rebounds. Bad luck as Salvadorenos lost that game 74-80 to slightly higher-ranked Cojute (#4, 10-5). Salvadorenos managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 7-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Parra is a newcomer at Salvadorenos and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Freddy Asprilla (206-C-1988) of Ahuachapan BC (#10). Asprilla showcased his all-around game by recording 15 points, 22 rebounds (!!!) and 12 assists (!!!) in the last round. Despite Asprilla's great performance the Ahuachapan lost 92-96 to the higher-ranked Brujos (#7, 6-10). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Ahuachapan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-14 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Asprilla has individually a great season in El Salvador. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 18.9rpg (#1 in league). He also has 1.7bpg and a FGP of 55.1%.
