An interesting game for Metapan (15-5) which played road game in Santa Ana against 4th placed Santa Ana (11-8). Second ranked Metapan managed to get a 6-point victory 82-76. Metapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) contributed with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for Santa Ana. Metapan have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-5 record having just one point less than leader San Salvador. Santa Ana at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Salvadorenos. Metapan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santa Ana will play against Independiente (#10) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Liga MB top team - San Salvador (18-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Brujos (2-18) 124-70. It was a great evening for Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds. Nargenis Ulloa helped adding 24 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. San Salvador's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard DAndre Collins (196, college: Bridgeport) responded with 27 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the eighteenth consecutive win for San Salvador. They maintain first place with 18-0 record. Brujos lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom. San Salvador will play against Ahuachapan (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brujos will have a break next round.
The game in Santa Tecla was also quite interesting. Third ranked A.Lobos (14-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Santa Tecla (9-11). A.Lobos defeated Santa Tecla 88-73 on Thursday. It was an exceptional evening for Ajang Aguek who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Demaris McNeil came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for Santa Tecla in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for A.Lobos. They maintain third place with 14-4 record having four points less than leader San Salvador. Loser Santa Tecla dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. A.Lobos will meet Santiagueno (#7) in the next round. Santa Tecla will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 19 Metapan smashed Ahuachapan on the road 109-78. Independiente lost to Salvadorenos on its own court 68-74.



Ahuachapan - Metapan 78-109

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Metapan (15-5) crushed on the road 9th ranked Ahuachapan (5-14) 109-78 on Tuesday. Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Ahuachapan's 34. Metapan forced 20 Ahuachapan turnovers and outrebounded them 49-32 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Marquise Mosley (175-1997, college: Biola, CA) accounted for 21 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Metapan players scored in double figures. American guard Jerome Savoy (185, college: Pfeiffer) came up with a double-double by scoring 49 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and center Teodoro Romero (202-1985) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Ahuachapan in the defeat. Ahuachapan's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Metapan. They maintain second place with 15-5 record having just one point less than leader San Salvador. Ahuachapan lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. Very expected game when 10th ranked Independiente (2-17) lost at home to fifth ranked Salvadorenos (11-8) 74-68 on Tuesday. Salvadorenos dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Independiente's 34. Salvadorenos forced 22 Independiente turnovers and had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Salvadorenos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Salvadorenos made 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Venezuelan-Colombian center Michael Hinestroza (210-1990, college: UALR) who led the winners and scored 4 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks. Diego Rivera (-2007) accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Salvadorenos players scored in double figures. Salvadorenos' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. San Salvador players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Brujos' players.
