Regatas Corrientes are the new Basketball Champions League Americas champions. They toppled
Capitanes de Arecibo in the key clash on the third day of Final Four
action in Xalapa.
Federico Kammerichs (203-F/C-80) scored 23 points to lead the
Argentinean team to the glory. He was named the MVP after the game.
Regatas shocked the Puerto Rican side early as they went on a 10:0 run
to take 20:10 lead. Regatas entered the second term up by eight points
20:12. Capitanes struggled to get any closer in the second quarter. They
faced a 33:45 halftime deficit.
Federico Kammerichs stepped up for the Argentinean side in the third
term as he unloaded 10 points. Regatas Corrientes headed into the fourth
frame up by as many as 18 points 70:52. Capitanes fought eagerly in the
final minutes but came up short of victory. Eduardo Villares knocked
down 14 points for the winners.

outscored Halcones Rojos on the final day of the Final Four tournament.

Halcones Xalapa started the game aggressively. They fired 26 points in
the opening term to take a 4-point lead. Xalapa maintained the advantage
in the second term. They piled up a comfortable 53:41 halftime lead. The
home team tipped off the third term with ten points in a row to boost
the gap. But Halcones Rojos stayed in the game as they went on a 13:0
rally to trail by just six points with ten minutes left. Halcones Rojos
outgunned Xalapa 21:20 in the fourth period but it was not enough to

They outscored Halcones Xalapa to step closer to the title.

suffered the second straight defeat on home soil. The teams stayed very
close in the opening term. They traded baskets as Capitanes eked out a
narrow 22:21 lead after ten minutes.
Larry Ayuso was the key figure for the visitors as he unloaded 13
points in the first half allowing Capitanes to take a 38:33 halftime
lead.

They outscored Regatas Corrientes of Argentina to improve at 1-1 record.

delivered 22 points to pace the winners. Halcones Rojos will face
Halcones Xalapa in the final day of the tournament for a chance to win
the trophy. Regatas Corrientes slipped at 1-1 and would take on
undefeated Capitanes de Arecibo. The first half saw a tight battle.
Regatas managed to pull in front 14:12 after ten minutes. The
Argentinean team boosted the margin to three points 37:34 at the
interval. Regatas maintained the lead throughout the third frame. They
entered the final period up by three points 57:54. But Halcones turned
things around with a 12:0 run midway through the final stanza. Regatas
could not recover after a blow and had to surrender at the end. Brandon
Robinson produced 21 points and 9 boards.

Regatas Corrientes celebrated the opening win at the Basketball Champions League Americas Final
Four. They defeated Halcones Xalapa in Mexico yesterday to improve at
1-0 record. Regatas will next face Halcones Rojos tonight. The hosts
will try to bounce back against Capitanes de Arecibo. It was a tough
battle in the first half. Neither side was able to gain any sort of
clear advantage. Halcones Xalapa and Regatas stayed knotted up at 13
after ten minutes. The Argentinean team pulled in front in the second
quarter. They grabbed a narrow 24:22 lead at the interval. Both teams
increased the tempo in the third term. Regatas Corrientes unloaded 29
points in the period to post a comfortable 9-point lead with one quarter
to go 53:44. Halcones Xalapa went on a desperate rescue rally in the
fourth quarter. The hosts erupted for 28 points in the period but their
defense remained out of sync and Regatas capitalized scoring 28 points
of their own and stealing a valuable win at the end.
