USA destroyed Canada 103-52 in the Big Final of FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Mexico City grabbing the gold medal. Both teams entered to this game undefeated, but USA demonstrated way better performance last night. After opening ten minutes it was 27-20 and until the half time USA jumped to magnificent 56-29. Second half was just the formality as the gold medal winner was already known. Elizabeth Williams (-92) led Americans with 19 points. Justine Hartman (-92) was behind her with 14. Canada got 12 points from Nirra Fields (170-G-93).

In the battle for bronze medal Argentina outplayed Brazil 64-47. After 20 minutes of the game it was already clear who the winner will be as Argentina already created huge 30-11. It is interesting that Argentina drained 10 triples in the first half. Melisa Gretter (-92) stepped up for Argentina with 20 points and Carolina Belen had 13. In a losing effort Ramona Macedo had 12 points.

The fifth place belongs to Mexico, who was better than Puerto Rico 72-56.

Dominican Republic is No.7 after its first win on this event, Dominican Republic - Guatemala 65-57.

It is very important to mention that USA, Canda and Argentina booked a spot for the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship.
