Brazil - Argentina 57-42
Brazil U16 qualified to U17 FIBA World Championship with a win against Argentina U16 in Day 3 of the FIBA Americas U16 Championship. Brazil grabbed a ticket to the Semifinals after a 57:42 victory. It was the most expected game of the day and the most exciting. Brazil started the game with 13-11 lead and added 11-8 rally in the second period. The third period was decisive in the game when Brazil pushed the tempo for 20-11 surge and never looked behind. Brazil also added 13-12 rally in the last stanza for the final result. Aline De Moura (185-F/C-97) top-scored for the winners with 14 points and Mariane De Carvalho (182-F-97) as well as Motta Wytalla had 11 each. Carneiro Larissa delivered 7 points each in a win. Delabarba Luciana finished the game with 11 points in defeat, whilst Rodriguez Martina scored 7. Sofia Giannini (159-G-97) poured in 6, whilst Paladin Oriana had 5.
Costa Rica - USA 19-106
USA storm past Costa Rica in Day 3 of the FIBA Americas U16 Championship. The defending champions won Group A with a perfect 3-0 record after a 106:19 victory. USA started the game with a 35-4 burst and continued their dominance in the rest of the game. The favorites managed to hold the opponents to just 2 points in the second and the third periods. USA meanwhile scored 25 points in the second period and then added 21 in the third for 72-point lead after thirty minutes. USA finished the game with a 25-11 surge and reached three-digit number at the end. Katie Samuelson (191-G/F-97) stepped up with 20 points for the winners and Nancy Mulkey (206-C-98) nailed 16. Cox Lauren delivered 14, whilst Ogunbowale Arike netted 13 and Brown Kalani as well as Asia Durr (180-G-97) had 12 each. Costa Rica had only three players in the roster that scored in the game. Quesada Daniela poured in 10 points, while Mora Paula scored 5 and Herrera Meilyn brought 4.
Group B
Puerto Rico - Venezuela 83-41
Puerto Rico beat Venezuela in Cancun in Day 3 of the FIBA Americas U16 Championship. Puerto Rico tasted their initial success after an 83:41 win and finished the group with 1-2 record. Venezuela remained winless at the tournament. Puerto Rico erupted with a 25-4 surge in the first period and never looked behind after. Although Venezuela won the second frame 18-17, Puerto Rico led 20 points at the halftime. The third period was a nightmare for Venezuela that managed to score only 2 points and got 22 from Puerto Rico. The latter added 19-17 rally in the last stanza for the final result. Gladyshka Gerena (165-PG-97) top-scored for the winners with 14 points and Rodriguez Gianna netted 13. Liciaga Lyanne ended up with 12 points, while Giolibeth Perez (165-PG-98) poured in 10. Montilla Maria finished the game with 10 points in the losing effort. Laury Garcia (174-SF-97) notched 6, whilst Sosa Patricia had 5.
Mexico - Canada 40-89
Canada U16 won over Mexico U16 in Day 3 of the FIBA Americas Championship. Canada won Group B with a perfect 3-0 record after an 89:40 victory. Mexico finished the Group with 2-1 record as both teams qualified to the U17 World Championship. Canada won the first period 18-10 and added massive 24-7 surge in the second frame. Moreover the Canadian players did not slow down in the second half and added another two victories. Canada erupted with a 32-12 surge in the third period and finished the game with a 15-11 rally. Bridget Charleton (185-G) paced all the winners with 16 points and Farquhar Tamara as well as Eternati Willock (188-F-97) posted 14 each. Yearwood Lauren and Chandler Julia delivered 12 points each. Nayeli Ortiz (174-SF-98) ended up with 8 points in the losing effort and Martinez Rosemy poured in 7. Rivas Cinthya and Telles Celilly had 6 points each in a loss.
