Mexico - USA 44-85
The USA earned the third consecutive victory at the FIBA Americas Championship. They fired past Mexico to clinch the top position in Group A. Destiny Littleton (175-G) finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Team USA accumulated a 33:19 halftime advantage. They unloaded 52 points in the second half and cruised to the victory. Alexis Morris (168-G) had 15 points in the win. Maria Ruiz (171-SG) replied with 13 points for Mexico.
Honduras - Argentina 52-62
Argentina celebrated the first victory in Puebla. They beat Honduras to finish Group A action at 1-2 record. Valentina Silva (173-F-99) posted 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the winners. Honduras led by two points after ten minutes 12:10. But Argentina went on a 25:5 run in the second frame to gain a 35:17 halftime advantage. Honduras narrowed the gap at 5-point mark at the final intermission. Argentina limited their opponents to just 9 points in the fourth frame and rolled to the victory. Candela Foresto (163-G-99) finished with 13 points for Argentina. Nelly Leva (171-PG) responded with 25 points for Honduras.
Group B
Canada - Brazil 64-50
Canada held off Brazil to stay undefeated in Puebla. Kyla Shand (188-C) notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to pace the North American team. Brazil jumped to a 21:13 lead after the opening quarter. Canada erased the deficit and built a 9-point lead at the final intermission. Canada held Brazil to 11 points in the fourth term and eased to the victory. Hailey Brown (185-F-99) finished with 10 points for Canada. Izabela Nicoletti (170-G-99) responded with 16 points for Brazil.
Venezuela - Cuba 71-73
Cuba snatched a tough victory over Venezuela to clinch the first victory in Group B action. Elianis Armentero (175-PF) finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Cuba built a 35:24 halftime lead. Venezuela cut the distance to just 2 points at the final break. But Cuba knocked down 23 points in the fourth frame and escaped with a narrow win at the end. Rachel Contreras (184-C) delviered 16 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Luisanny Zapata (165-SG) answered with 25 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds for Venezuela.
