Canada are the FIBA Americas champions. They snatched a thrilling overtime victory over Brazil to capture the trophy. Alyssa Jerome (185-C) stepped up with 17 points and 12 rebounds to pace Canada. She was named the MVP after the Final. Canada grabbed a 29:23 halftime advantage. The North American team stretched the margin at 7-point mark heading into the fourth quarter. But Brazil unloaded 28 points in the fourth frame and forced overtime. Alyssa Jerome came up with key points in the extra period and Canada got away with the historic victory. Hailey Brown (185-F-99) netted 14 points and collected 9 rebounds for Canada. Izabela Nicoletti (170-G-99) accounted for game-high 32 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Brazil. Clarissa Fernandes (180-C) netted 13 points and issued 6 assists in the defeat.
3-4 Place
USA - Mexico 81-24
The USA cruised past Mexico to clinch the Bronze medals at the FIBA Americas Championship. Alexis Morris (168-G) and Jade Williams (190-F) provided 11 points each for the winners. Team USA earned a comfortable 52:14 halftime lead. They held Mexico scoreless in the fourth quarter and breezed to the victory. Destiny Littleton (175-G) and Andra Espinoza-Hunter (180-F) delivered 10 points each for the USA. Diana Landin (170-SF) responded with 6 points for Mexico.
5-6 Place
Argentina - Cuba 54-68
Cuba wrapped up their campaign on a high note. They bruised Argentina to occupy the fifth position. Elianis Armentero (175-PF) provided 26 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Cuba took a 34:27 halftime lead. They followed with a strong 22:7 rally in the third term to clear off for good. Daymaris Millet (168-G) finished with 15 points and 8 assists for Cuba. Florencia Chagas (174-G-1) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds for Argentina. Amaiquen Siciliano (165-G-99) netted 10 points in the loss.
7-8 Place
Venezuela - Honduras 66-64
Venezuela held off Honduras in the clash for the 7th overall position. Yorgelis Alvarez (160-PG) came up with 13 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds to lead Venezuela. They rallied to a 31:21 halftime lead. Honduras knocked down 25 points in the third quarter to pull within six points. They narrowed the gap in the fourth period but could not avoid the defeat at the end. Aguehil Fajardo (183-PF) netted 12 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Nelly Leva (171-PG) responded with 24 points for Honduras.
