FINALUSA - Canada 91-46The USA celebrated Gold in Buenos Aires. They overcame Canada in the Final on Sunday. Azzi Fudd (180-F) came up with 18 points to pace the winners. The USA dominated in the first half. They registered a 50:25 halftime advantage. They followed with an 18:10 run in the third term to clear off for good. Zia Cooke (175-G/F) and Aliyah Boston (190-C) produced 15 points each for the champions. Merissah Russell (180-F-02) responded with 12 points for Canada. 3-4 PlaceArgentina - Colombia 59-52 OTArgentina outgunned Colombia in overtime to claim Bronze medals. Florencia Chagas (174-G-01) scored 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to pace the hosts. Argentina built a 20:6 lead after ten minutes. But Colombia managed to erase the deficit in the next three periods. They went on a 19:11 run in the fourth quarter to force overtime. But Argentina responded with a 10:3 rally in the extra period to ice the win. Sofia Acevedo (167-PG-01) netted 19 points in the victory. Stephanny Orozco (165-PG-01) answered with 15 points for Colombia. 5-6 PlaceVenezuela - Mexico 28-71Mexico outgunned Venezuela to clinch the fifth overall position in the final standings. Alejandra Arreola (181-G/F-01) posted 13 points, 10 boards and 5 assists in the win. Mexico built a 34:12 halftime lead. They held Venezuela to just 16 points in the second half and rolled to the victory. Karina Esquer (170-F-00) had 12 points in the win. Yulianny Perez (175-F-01) responded with 7 points for Venezuela. 7-8 PlacePuerto Rico - Dominican Republic 76-69Puerto Rico finished their Buenos Aires campaign on a high note. They beat Dominican Republic to earn the 7th position. Jacqueline Vargas-Bines (190-C-02) scored 17 points and pulled down 9 rebounds in the victory. Dominican Republic recorded a 24:19 lead after ten minutes. Puerto Rico bounced back with a 27:15 run in the second term to establish a 46:39 halftime lead. They limited Dominican Republic to just 8 points in the third term to open a 10-point advantage. They protected the lead throughout the final term and sealed the win. Valeria Verdejo (177-SF-01) accounted for 17 points for the winners. Katiana Benitez (172-F-01) responded with 20 points for Dominican Republic. |
