Canada registered the second straight victory in Mexico. They beat Costa Rica to stay undefeated. Canada recorded a 49-15 halftime lead. They held Costa Rica to 10 points in the second half and eased to the win. Cassandre Prosper (188-SF-05) produced 24 points in the victory. Lucia McGuinness (170-PF-05) tossed in 5 points for Costa Rica.
Mexico - USA 43-126
USA knocked down Mexico to climb at 2-0 record. USA led from start to finish. They established a 65-16 halftime advantage. USA added 61 points in the second half and cruised to the win. JuJu Watkins (183-G-05) notched 21 points, while Delaney Thomas (187-F-05) added 14 points for USA. Loriette Maciel (179-SG-05) connected for 12 points for Mexico.
Chile - Argentina 53-69
Argentina topped Chile to open win count in Group B. Argentina piled up a 35-24 halftime lead. Chile cut the deficit to 8 points heading into the fourth period. But Argentina ignited a 21-13 run in the final stanza and secured the win. Gianella Espedale (163-PG-05) and Alma Bourgarel (160-G-06) banked in 11 points each for Argentina. Vania Vega (SG-05) and Betsabe Pizarro (PG-05) had 15 points each for Chile.
Brazil - Puerto Rico 67-74
Puerto Rico held off Brazil for the second consecutive win in Group A. Brazil stayed in charge throughout the first half. They established a 35-30 halftime lead. But Puerto Rico responded with a 27-17 run in the third term to spur ahead. They protected the lead throughout the final period and raced to the win. Franchesca Torres (05) netted 17 points, while Dianne Crespo (06) and Nicole Carreno (05) had 14 points each for the winning side. Ana Passos (176-PF-05) tallied 23 points and 22 rebounds for Brazil.
