Argentina cruised past Puerto Rico in the opener. Argentina piled up a 40-22 halftime lead. They held Puerto Rico to just 28 points in the second half and cruised to the win. Francisca Canello (182-F/C-2009) delivered 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Florencia Losada and Isabella Roldan (185-C-2009) accounted for 12 points each for Argentina. Valeria Medina answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds for Puerto Rico. Venezuela - USA 52-113 USA stormed past Venezuela en route to the opening victory in Group A. USA piled up a 50-29 halftime lead. They erupted for 63 points in the second half and marched to the win. Ivanna Manyacka (188-F-2009) and Micah Ojo (183-F-2010) produced 18 points apiece for the USA. Roberli Perez (158-PG-2009) chipped in 8 points for Venezuela. Colombia - Canada 29-63 Canada thumped Colombia to open win count in Irapuato. Canada held their opponents to just 10 points in the first half to open a 17-point lead. They continued to suffocate Colombia defensively in the second half and eased to the win. Avery Arije (179-F-2009) delivered 16 points for the North American side. Alisson Restrepo knocked down 10 points for Colombia. Mexico - Panama 122-27 Mexico breezed past Panama in Irapuato. The hosts grabbed a 60-20 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the win. Mariana Diaz posted 20 points, while Aislin Tamez accounted for 15 points in the victory. Vivian Grenald (183-PF-2009) replied with 10 points for Panama. |
