They never looked back en route to the opening win at the tournament. Keren Bertel (174-F-2009) posted 15 points, while Alisson Restrepo (168-SG-2009) chipped in 12 points for Colombia. Nickielys Alvarez (170-C-2011) answered with 13 points for Panama.

Canada - Mexico 76-51
Canada held off Mexico to gain the second consecutive win in Group B. The North American side piled up a 43-27 halftime lead. They held Mexico to just 6 points in the fourth stanza to race to the win. Portia Reisen (172-G-2010) tossed in 15 points, while Avery Arije (179-F-2009) added 14 points for Canada. Belen Velazquez (169-G-2009) and Yannia Valverde (175-F-2009) accounted for 10 points each for the hosts.

Argentina - Venezuela 64-52
Argentina beat Venezuela to improve at 2-0 record in Group A. The game was decided in the first ten minutes. Argentina ignited a 24-8 rally and marched to the win afterwards. Florencia Losada (166-SG-2010) accounted for 17 points, while Francisca Canello (182-F/C-2009) netted 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Argentina. Alexandra Cabeza (175-F-2009) nailed 11 points for Venezuela.

USA - Puerto Rico 138-38
USA breezed past Puerto Rico for the second win in Irapuato. USA ensured a 77-20 halftime lead. They cruised to the win in the second half. Eight players scored in double digits for the winners. Reece Gilpatrick (193-F-2010) notched 20 points, while Ivana Wilson-Manyacka (185-F-2009, college: USA NT U16) and Tatianna Griffin (180-G-2010) posted 18 points each for the USA. Maliyah Mays (171-G-2009) responded with 9 points for Puerto Rico.
