Cuba are crowned CBC Championship winners. They topped Dominican Republic in the Final on Thursday. Yamara Amargo (179-PF-85, agency: Pro Sports) was pivotal with 16 points for the champions. Cuba got to a strong start. They built a 19:6 lead ten minutes into the game. But Dominican Republic stopped the rot in the next two quarters. They pulled within 5 points at the final intermission. Cuba however used a 19:13 rally in the fourth stanza to seal the victory. Suchitel Avila (184-F/C-82) netted 15 points for the winning side. Sugeiry Monsac (186-F/C-81) and Yohanna Morton (172-G-87, college: Robert Morris) responded with 17 points apiece for Dominican Republic.
3-4 Place
Bahamas - Barbados 65-56
Bahamas stepped onto the pedestal in Suriname. They edged Barbados to finish in the third position. Brea Forbes (173-G-94) delivered 17 points and 5 steals to pace the winners. Bahamas registered a 33:25 halftime lead. They went on a 19:16 run in the fourth quarter to ice the win. Sha-Londa Neely (187-C-97) had 11 points for the winners. Shakila Small (190-G) responded with 18 points and 11 rebounds for Barbados.



Cuba and Dominican Republic advance into title game - Jun 21, 2018

Cuba crushed Barbados to advance into the Final in Paramaribo. Yamara Amargo (179-PF-85, agency: Pro Sports) was unstoppable with 30 points for the winners. Cuba dominated throughout the first half. They recorded a 48:24 halftime advantage. Cuba went on a massive 36:10 run in the third term to clear off for good. Suchitel Avila (184-F/C-82) netted 19 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and issued 4 assists for the winning side. Shakila Small (190-G) responded with 17 points for Barbados.

Dominican Republic - Bahamas 56-41
Dominican Republic will play for the title in Suriname. They edged Bahamas in the semifinal clash on Wednesday. Yohanna Morton (172-G-87, college: Robert Morris) and Andreina Paniagua (191-F-78) came up with 12 points each for the winners. Dominican Republic accounted for a 26:15 halftime lead. They followed with an 18:10 run in the third term to clear off for good. Valerie Nesbitt (167-G-98) produced 18 points for Bahamas.



The semifinals are set in Suriname - Jun 20, 2018

The semifinals are set in Suriname as 4 teams will play for the title. Cuba beat St.Vincent 108-32 to finish Group A with a 2-0 record. Yamara Amargo (179-PF-85, agency: Pro Sports) top-scored for the winners with 18 points and Anisleidys Galindo (181-SG-89) posted 17. Sheldeen Joseph (167-G-92) scored 18 points in the losing effort. Bahamas advanced from the group as they finished with a 1-1 record.
In Group Dominican Republic and Barbados advanced to the semifinals. Dominican Republic clinched the top position with a 3-0 record beating Guyana 112-24. Barbados edged Surinam 73-55 for the second spot.

Surinam opened win count at the tournament. The hosts cruised past Guyana for 1-1 record. Cyarah Kensmil (01) came up with 22 points for the winners. Guyana recorded a 27:26 halftime lead. But Surinam used a massive 47:25 second half to snatch the victory. Zephanya Zeefuik (88) had 17 points and 9 steals for the winners. Miriam McKenzie (177-G-90, college: Loyola, MD) responded with 24 points and 11 rebounds for Guyana.

Bahamas - Saint Vincent 75-50
Bahamas fired past Saint Vincent for the first win in Suriname. Tracy Lewis (178-F-90) stepped up with 14 points and 7 rebounds to pace the winners. Bahamas dominated in the first half. They recorded a 37:23 halftime lead. They went on a 22:8 run in the fourth period to ice the win. Valerie Nesbitt (167-G-98) and Pamela Bethel (185-C-92) had 12 points each in the victory. Vasha Adams (183-F/C-83) responded with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Saint Vincent.

Dominican Republic - Barbados 93-33
Dominican Republic coasted past Barbados for the second straight win in Group B. Yohanna Morton (172-G-87, college: Robert Morris) provided 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Dominican Republic dominated right from the tip off. They accumulated a 50:18 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the win. Juladyy Zapata (175-SG-92) and Andreina Paniagua (191-F-78) had 12 points each in the victory. Toni Atherely answered with 11 points for Barbados.



Cuba beat Bahamas in CBC opener - Jun 18, 2018

Cuba - Bahamas 77-50

Cuba beat Bahamas in the Caribbean Championship 2018 opener. They took a massive 27-9 surge at the start of the game and never looked behind after. Cuba managed to close the game with the final 18-9 run to seal the win.
Anisleidys Galindo (181-SG-89) stepped up with 24 points and Yamara Amargo (179-PF-85, agency: Pro Sports) netted 15. Suchitel Avila (184-F/C-82) delivered 12, whilst Lisdeyvi Valdes had 8. Valerie Nesbitt (167-G-98) answered with 19 points in the losing effort and Brea Forbes nailed 14.
