Cuba and Bahamas advance into Final

British Virgin Islands - Bahamas 65-84
Bahamas advanced into the CBC Championship Final. They held off British Virgin Islands in the semifinal clash tonight to reach the title game. Bahamas also punched the Centrobasket ticket with the victory. The teams stayed on level terms throughout the opening quarter. The scoreboard read 20:20 after ten minutes. Bahamas pulled ahead in the second frame. They went on an 18:8 run to secure a 10-point halftime lead. The visitors kept British Virgin Islands at distance throughout the third term. They entered the fourth period up by 12 points 59:47. Bahamas unloaded 25 points in the final stanza to seal the win. Marvin Gray (178-G-83) scored 17 points for Bahamas. Kadeem Coleby (206-C-89) added 15 points for the winners. Steve Parillon (196-F-78, college: Henderson St.) answered with 17 points for British Virgin Islands. Norville Carey (196-F) netted 13 points in the loss.

Cuba - U.S. Virgin Islands 62-60
Cuba snatched a tough victory over ambitious US Virgin Islands and advanced into CBC Championship title game. They will now take on Bahamas for the trophy. Cuba also qualified for 2014 Centrobasket tournament with the victory. Jasiel Rivero scored 19 points to pace the winners. Cuba raced to a 20:8 lead after the opening frame. US Virgin Islands stopped the rot in the second quarter. They pulled within 7 points at the interval. US Virgin Islands pulled as close as 4 points at the final intermission. They narrowed the distance to just a single point late in the game but Granda sank a decisive free throw sealing the win for Cuba. Yordanis Jaca (195-PF-83) had 12 points, while Joan Luis Haiti (200-C-82) added 11 points for the winnners. Aaron Brown (196-F-92) responded with 19 points for US Virgin Islands. Cuthbert Victor (197-F-83, college: Murray St.) had 14 points in the defeat.
5-8 Place
Antigua - Barbados 70-83
Barbados will play for the 5th position at the CBC Championship. They held off Antigua in the classification round clash. Akeem Marsh (206-F/C-87) delivered 21 points to lead the winners. Barbados jumped to a 23:19 lead after ten minutes. Antigua cut the deficit in the second frame. They eventually tied things up at 35 at the interval. Barbados however picked up the tempo in the third term. They dropped 25 points and ensured a 9-point lead at the final intermission. Barbados accounted for 23 points in the fourth term and sealed the victory. Ramon Simmons had 15 points, while Andre Lockhart added 10 points for Barbados. Sharife Sergeant (201-F-92) responded with 14 points for Antigua. Mario Davis (198-F/G-80, college: Missouri Western) and Lennox McCoy had 13 points each in the defeat.

Saint Vincent - Guyana 72-86
Guyana earned the first victory at the CBC Championship. They held off Saint Vincent in the classification round of the tournament. Rawle Marshall (201-SF-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Oakland) stepped up with 28 points to pace the winners. Guyana posted a 23:16 lead after the first frame. They extended the lead in the next two quarters. Guyana entered the fourth period up by 18 points. Saint Vincent cut the distance in the fourth frame but could not avoid the defeat. Ray Victor (186-G, college: Warner) delivered 22 points, while Gordon Klaiber (206-F-83, college: Fair Dickinson) added 14 points for the winners. Kyle Williams (189-G/F-88) answered with 25 points for Saint Vincent. Sean Baptiste (190-G-88, agency: Prossin Sports Management Inc., college: Fair Dickinson) had 23 points in the loss.
