Barbados survived a furious late rally from British Virgin Islands and ensured the first victory at the CBC Championship. Keefe Birkett (183-G-88) stepped up with 31 points and 6 rebounds to pace Barbados. British Virgin Islands grabbed a 14:9 lead ten minutes into the game. But Barbados responded with a 52:32 run in the next two periods to spur ahead. British Virgin Islands unleashed 30 points in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the defeat. Jeremy Gill (183-G-81) tossed in 16 points in the victory. Randy George (202-F-81, college: Henderson St.) responded with 17 points and 10 rebounds for British Virgin Islands.
Saint Vincent - U.S. Virgin Islands 62-93
US Virgin Islands recorded the second straight victory at the CBC Championship. They rallied past Saint Vincent in Group A. Khalid Hart (198-SF-95) posted 21 points to pace the winners. US Virgin Islands built a 30:7 lead ten minutes into the game. They extended the margin at 29-point mark at the interval. Saint Vincent narrowed the gap at 27-point mark at the final intermission. But US Virgin Islands dropped 22 points in the fourth period and sealed the win. Craig Williams (206-C-89, agency: SDJ Sports, college: TCU) finished with 20 points, while Ivan Aska (200-F-90, agency: Comsport, college: Murray St.) added 16 points for the winning side. Sean Baptiste (190-G-88, college: Fair Dickinson) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds for Saint Vincent.
Group B
Surinam - Bahamas 57-72
Bahamas defeated Surinam to stay undefeated on top of Group B. Five players scored in double digits for Bahamas. They registered a 39:28 halftime lead. Bahamas boosted the margin at 14-point mark at the final intermission and never looked back en route to the win. Eugene Bain (195-C/F-88, college: Bellevue) accounted for 11 points in the win. Kadeem Coleby (206-C/F-89, college: Wichita St.) added 4 points and 9 rebounds for Bahamas. Bruce Zamuel (193-SF) replied with 11 points and 5 boards for Surinam.
Guyana - Bermudas 65-74
Bermudas toppled Guyana to improve at 1-1 record in Group B. Sullivan Phillips (198-G/F-79, college: Wash.Adventist) came up with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge. Bermudas stayed in charge throughout the first half. They recorded a 32:23 halftime advanatge. Guyana pulled iwthin 5 points at the final intermission. But Bermudas sank 24 points in the fourth period to race to the win. Chris Crumpler (191-G/F-83) finished with 16 points for the winners. Gordon James (198-F-79, college: Bridgeport) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds for Guyana.
