Liga Nacional Round 2: ELOHIM defeats Coloso

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga Metropolitana. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Coloso (1-1) at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were rolled over by ELOHIM (1-1) 63-41. ELOHIM outrebounded Coloso 40-23 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Bernie Diaz (200-81) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Pablo Cano (178-88) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Swingman Rodrigo Vallejo (-88) replied with 10 points and 4 assists for Coloso. Coloso's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. ELOHIM is looking forward to face Villa Nueva (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Coloso will play against Club Force (#1) in Guatemala City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game for Olmeca (1-1) which played on the court of Villa Nueva (0-2). Olmeca had an easy win 75-61. American guard Kevin Alvarez (185-95, college: Coast Guard) scored 19 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Luis Arias chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Miguel Giron (-95) responded with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Villa Nueva's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olmeca will play against USAC (#6) in Guatemala in the next round. Villa Nueva will play on the road against ELOHIM in Chimaltenango to get more than just one victory in their record.

In the last game of round 2 winless GMS lost to undefeated Club Force on the road 56-75.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 25 points and 14 rebounds by Anthony Guerra of GMS.



Coloso - ELOHIM 41-63

No shocking result in a game when Club Force (2-0) crushed GMS (0-1) in Guatemala City 75-56. Carlos Hengstenberg (179-99) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Alexis Hengstenberg (-98) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Point guard Anthony Guerra (178-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and the former international forward Vinicio Enriquez (194-91) scored 4 points and 7 rebounds. Club Force will play against Coloso (#5) in the next round. GMS will play against Pampichi in Amatitlan to get more than just one victory in their record.
